Today I want to show you an easy way to create an effective background on your layout. This layout is about my love for fabric. Going to a fabric shop is like going to a candy store! I love the different colors and patterns – actually it is same kind of affection that I have for patterned papers! Here is also a tutorial to show you how the page was made, step by step. Näin aloitin, niin kuin lähes aina askarrellessani. Valitsen valokuvan ja etsin siihen sopivan taustapaperin. Joskus käytän yksiväristä kartonkia, mutta yleensä taustana taitaa olla kuviopaperi. Etsin myös muutaman väreihin sopivan washiteippirullan.
This is how I started. Actually, this is how I almost always start my layouts. I have my photo and I go and find the background paper. Sometimes a blank card but more often a patterned paper. I also grabbed a few washi tapes.
Päätin mihin kohtaan sivua haluan valokuvan laittaa ja tein tähän kohtaan washiteipeillä tuommoisen taustakerroksen.
I decided where on the layout I wanted the picture to be and on that spot I created a kind of grid using the tapes.

On top of the tapes and also around them I stamped with a Script Stamp.
Seuraava vaihe oli musteet (tämä on aina lempivaiheeni!). Pidin paperia pystyssä ja suihkuttelin mustetta, yhtä väriä kerrallaan, ja annoin musteen valuea. Jos valuminen oli liian hidasta, ruiskaisin vähän vettä lisäksi ja valuminen helpottui. Kuivasin mustevalumat kuumailmapuhaltimella aina ennen uuden värin lisäämistä. Näin värit eivät sekoitu liikaa.
The next step was to create some fun ink running effects. I held the paper upright when spraying with ink sprays, one color at a time. If the spray ink didn’t run enough I gave it a little boost with a squirt of water and it started to run better. I used a heat gun to dry the ink always before applying a new color.
Alakulmaan kokosin pienen kasan kauniita ja kivoja elementtejä ja nyöriä.
In the bottom corner I created a little cluster of pretty elements and some twine.
Washiteippien ja mustevalumien päälle kiinnitin valokuvan ja muutaman koristeen sekä otsikon kirjaintarrat.
On top of the washi tapes and the ink spraying I attached the photo along with some pretty embellishments and the title.

Little ink drops always give a nice finishing touch!
Viimeisenä vuorossa oli journaling-teksti, johon käytin permanent-kynää. Silloin ei tarvitse huolehtia maalista tai teipeistä, joihin tavalliset tussit eivät usein tartu.
And finally I added the journaling using a permanent pen. With such pen I don’t have to worry about paint drops, glossy tape etc where it might be difficult to make the ink from the pen stick.
